The Grannytown Gazette is a quarterly publication of the Alden Historical Society.  Editor David Henry and Layouts Editor Christopher Gust coordinates articles submitted by committee members and Archivist Karen Muchow into an overview of Society activities and interesting glimpses into the history of Alden.  Printing, emailing and mailing preparations are done by members Carl Matthies and Elli DeFilippo and Trustees Christopher Gust, Susan Schumacher and Sue DeWitt.  President Sue Galbraith, Elli DeFilippo and Curator Kris Rogers are also valued contributors with their submissions.  The Grannytown Gazette is emailed or mailed via US Postal Service to all members, and copies are also available at the Historical Society building, the Ewell Free Library, the Village of Alden office, and the Town of Alden office.

The Town of Alden’s name was suggested by Seth Estabrook because, as he said, the town was as little and sweet as his mother-in-law, Hannah Alden Hebard, a direct descendant of John and Priscilla Alden of Plymouth, Massachusetts.  Scalawags from neighboring towns nicknamed Alden “Grannytown” because it was named after an old lady.  Proud of our New England heritage, the Society named its newsletter The Grannytown Gazette.
